Judging

The judge for the 2008 National Specialty will be Mr. William Cunningham.

Here is his biography, as published in our Premium List.

I started in dogs in 1963 after serving four years in the Air Force. I started in obedience with a Miniature Poodle who finished her C.D. in three shows then fell in love with the Standard Poodles I saw in conformation and had to have some of those. I bred, owned and finished the Top Producing Standard bitch in breed history (CH. DACUN’S STAR-ING ROLE O’JAMELLE), also co-bred the dam of the top winning Standard in breed history (CH. Lakecove’s That’s My Boy). I have bred many Shih Tzu Ch, Borzoi Ch, Afghans, Whippets, Dachshunds, and Bassets.

I was a A.K.C. licensed Handler for all Toys, Non- Sporting, Hounds, some Working and some Terriers (all the Schnauzers). I retired from handling in 1995 and became a judge. I am thoroughly enjoying my new career.

I still breed on a very small scale both Standard poodle and Shih Tzu. I am actually working on my 12th generation of both breeds. I have finished 11 generations of Poodles and 10 generations of Shih Tzu .

On my personal life I have two sons, (Bill III & Troy), who have given me 5 grandchildren and I have 3 great grandsons. I also have a sister, Pam, who supports my dog habit completely, and especially my partner of 40 years, Phil Dailey, is the biggest supporter, as he stays at home and maintains the dogs, raises the puppies, and answers the phone.

I serve on the education committee of two national clubs, Poodles, (Chairman) and Shih Tzu. I am President of the Mid-Florida Judges Study Group, The Orlando Poodle Club and Shih Tzu Fanciers of Central Florida., and I belong to three judges organizations.

I am now licensed to judge 4-1/2 groups: Toys, Hounds, Non Sporting, Working , and 12 Sporting breeds, Juniors, and BEST IN SHOW

Wow, when I stop and look this over maybe some people are right when they tell me I have gone to the DOGS.
