Dear Pete,
Thank you for seeking information about foreign registration. These dogs may be
entered on their foreign numbers and exhibited for upto thirty days. If the owners
wish to continue to show the dogs after the initial 30 days either an extension may
be obtained or the dog must be AKC Registered. A Dog will not be granted an AKC
title until the dog is AKC Registered. The owners may submit a foreign dog application
with a foreign address.
I am happy to assist any individuals who might attend these shows with registering
their dogs with AKC. Please have them forward all completed paperwork directly to me:

or scan and email it to me at mbo@akc.org
The Foreign Dog Application can be found on the AKC Web Site:

All the best for the New Year!

From: Sent: To: 'foreign@akc.org' Subject: International entries in conformation shows Good afternoon, I see on the FAQ page (http://www.akc.org/events/conformation/faqs.cfm) that foreign
dogs for 30 days. Does this apply only to dogs being imported into the US or does
this also apply for visitors attending with the intention of attending a Specialty
on Friday and the possibility of the AKC shows on Saturday & Sunday? The reason for asking...
Our 2009 Specialty will have a very well known international judge (he judged our
breed at the 2008 FCI World Dog Show). He has also been approved to judge several
breeds during the AKC shows on Saturday & Sunday. As a result, we have the possibility
of attracting a few European owners/fanciers and I'd like to ensure we give them the
correct information up front.
Should any potential attendees apply for AKC registration numbers? Or is this only
necessary if they plan to attend future shows after the 30 day window?
Can they apply for AKC #s with a foreign address?
Thanks! Pete Rousseau
